NEW GENERAL MANAGER

 On February 26, the Board of Directors of the Goose Pond Parks and Recreation Board named Lyle Sosebee the General Manager of Goose Pond Colony.  The following press release was issued at that time.

  "We're delighted to see an experienced manager like Lyle Sosebee, with a fresh new approach, move into the position of General Manager of Goose Pond Colony," Mike Baggett Chairman of the Goose Pond Parks and Recreation Board said. "We believe with the right leadership Goose Pond Colony can deliver a great atmosphere and outstanding service. This will help make Goose Pond Colony a destination for all that want to enjoy a relaxing and stress free day whether it is playing golf, boating, or eating at the Docks restaurant.   We would also like to thank the staff at Goose Pond for doing an excellent job over the past few months while this search was ongoing".  Our search was extensive, generating over ninety-five applications from locations across the Southeast. 

 "After living in several states over the past ten years I am very glad to get back home.  The beauty and outdoor activities offered in this area are unmatched in other parts of the country where we have lived.  We are very fortunate to call Jackson County home," Lyle said. 

 Lyle is a 1991 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Business Administration.  He has fifteen years of managerial experience with Wal-Mart working in four states during his tenure.  Lyle has also owned a company that has been exploring the development of additional recreational facilities on Lake Guntersville.

 Lyle worked in Scottsboro from 1991-1998 where he met his wife, Beth (Hancock).   Beth is a graduate of Scottsboro High School, Jacksonville State University and has a doctorate degree in pharmacy from The University of North Carolina.

 Lyle and Beth were married in 1998 and have one son, Jordon, 21 months old.  Beth currently works for Highlands Medical Center in Scottsboro.  They are members of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

PLANTATION POINT GOLF IRRIGATION

 The Scottsboro WSG is completing work on the new force main at Plantation.  The system is in trial operation and the treatment plant has been taken out of service.  Full irrigation from the pond will begin as needed in early March.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

 Work is nearing completion on further upgrades (carpet, curtains, etc) to the cabins.  Work was completed on a 50' dock extension at the Bait and Tackle shop.  Work is nearing completion on the upgrades to both bathhouses at the campground.

CAMPGROUND POLICY AND RULES

 A new Board policy was approved in February making lots more accessible for short term campers by limiting certain lots to a 2 week stay during the March-October period.  Additionally, campsites cannot be used as a permanent residence.  New expanded campground rules were also approved.
